Anette Power

“My artwork is my love letter to living, my way of processing what it means to be here.”

After years painting on location to capture exactly what is there, Anette now creates what she wants to see. Taking her draftsmanship and sense of depth from realism to an exploration of color through abstract shapes and design, she is continually searching to find the sweet spot between abstraction and realism.

Playing with mark making using acrylics, inks, pastels and pens, Anette adds paint freely or carefully on top of bits of collage papers and fabric. This becomes a base layer to then find something that either hints at the familiar or a light-dark pattern that creates an interesting visual space that sets the viewer on a visual journey.

Anette has had solo, and two-person shows in Sweden where she grew up, and in the U.S. Her work is held in private collections in North America and Europe, and she is grateful to have garnered some “Best of Show” awards over the last 25 years in commercial and fine art.

“Through abstraction I can create a sense of universality and mystery using color, light and joyful design.”
