AAC Co-Founders, JT Turner and Thore Edgren

The Abstract Art Collective (AAC) is a group of artists who, based in Santa Barbara, California, and its surrounding region, organized in 2011 to exhibit their work using abstraction as the central principle of their art.  Co-founders, JT Turner and Thore Edgren are continuing members while the AAC has more than 100 artists in its fold, with a wide range of abstract styles and media, including sculpture.

The AAC has several exhibitions a year at various local venues.  These have included the Channing Peake Gallery, Faulkner Gallery, GraySpace Gallery, The Karpeles Museum, the Bronfman Family Jewish Community Center, Bacara Resort, Cabrillo Pavilion, UCSB Faculty Club, the Meisel Gallery, TVSB Media Center, the SB College of Law, and the Voice Gallery.

AAC exhibitions have supported non-profits, including the Waldorf School, and SEE International (Surgical Eye Expeditions).

Events for Abstract Art Collective members include critiques by notable artists, workshops, and field trips, such as to Santa Cruz Island, a place where Diebenkorn very much liked to paint.
