Mary Freericks

I paint for pleasure and to bring others joy. Art is part of my soul inherited from my mother who studied art with Kandinsky in Russia. I love color and movement and use it freely. Lately, I’ve been focusing on abstracts. I usually use acrylics on canvas. At times I revert to watercolor on paper. People enjoy the rush of emotions in my art and the fact that they brighten a room in their home. One of my art teachers encouraged me to move from Santa Barbara scenery to abstracts since he thought my abstracts were successful and not everyone could do them. I find letting go of my imagination as the brush travels on the canvas brings unexpected, interesting results. I do not hesitate. I just let go and watch the paint flow. It’s like a dream coming true. It’s a dance in the arms of someone special. It’s my heart flowing over with pleasure to bring smiles to other people’s faces.
