“Abstract is Everything”. Open theme, for both 2D and 3D.

3D entries are encouraged. The Voice gallery is a beautiful space with a lot of room for sculptures.

OPENING RECEPTION: June 1, 5-8pm (1st Thursday)

JUROR: Jane Callister, Professor in the Art Studio department, UCSB

Jane Callister was born on the Isle of Man, UK in 1963 and is now a Southern California-based artist and Professor of Art at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her work spans the mediums of drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation. Over the past 20 years Callister has exhibited in many notable national and international shows including The 1st Prague Biennale at the Veletrizni Palace Prague, Czech Republic in 2003; Extreme Abstraction at the Albright Knox Museum, Buffalo, New York in 2005; Step into Liquid (curated by Dave Hickey) for the Ben Maltz Gallery at Otis College of Art and Design in Santa Monica, California and in 2006 was invited to be in the California Biennial at the Orange County Museum of Art, Newport Beach.

ONLINE SUBMISSION: Through CaFE, April 16 to May 6

Up to 5 entries: $30 for 1, $10 more for each one after, payable to CaFE.

ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION: May 20

INGATHERING: Tuesday, May 30 10-12pm, (Hanging 12pm to 5pm)

CLOSING RECEPTION: Thursday, June 29th, 5 -8pm

TAKEDOWN: Friday, June 30, 10-12pm

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS:

2D

  • No more than 4 feet wide with frame.  No limit on height. No more than 6 inches deep.

  • No giclée copies of original paintings — Inkjet prints of work created digitally, hand-pulled prints and photography are accepted.

  • Unique presentation: unframed paper, clips, panels, etc. will be accepted on a case by case basis.

3D

  • Sculptures should be less than 100 lbs, less than 8 feet high and take less than 6 square feet of floor space. If your work does not meet these limits, you are encouraged to contact Eric Saint Georges (ericcsgc@hawaii.edu).

  • Free standing sculptures should be stable or bolted to a base. Any work not considered safe will be rejected.

  • AAC will provide a limited number of pedestals. Artists are encouraged to bring their own pedestals.
