Caroline Blakemore

I hung out with many amazing artists in New York City, during the 1960s, while at Columbia. At Berkeley, I received a Masters Degree in Art History. I have been looking at and loving art all my life.

Sometimes I begin a mixed media painting with a bunch of acrylic paint streaks left on my palette from another painting. Then I affix a few pieces of tissue paper or my own painted collage papers in different colors. It’s from these random strokes and pieces, plus marks and random writings, that my paintings usually begin. I love nature and feel the need to stay aware of its organic presence in all aspects of my life. My studio doors open wide to the outdoors where I listen to birdsong and the falling water of a fountain. That is my inspiration. I hope my paintings reflect nature’s radiant song.
