I have lived in Southern California my entire life, many of those years in Carpinteria, and now Ventura. The inspiration for my artwork is a response to my love of the natural world, all its beauty and interconnectedness. I have always created art. I did not study studio art in college, though I took a few classes. I always seem to end up doing things my way and my artwork is intertwined with my life, raising children, and employment.

For years I created torn paper collage images, but I became tired of doing collage and wanted to focus on a new medium. I wanted to create images with brighter colors and no constraints. At the time, I was doing drawings that were very different from the collages. They were more abstract and the shapes more defined. Then, I started experimenting with acrylics and loved the vibrancy of color.

During that time, I retired to help my two pregnant daughters during the pandemic. Being immersed in the babies’ lives has brought me such happiness. I think that joy is reflected in my artwork. My art is a thankful response.
