Francine Kirsch
Francine Kirsch was born in France, and moved to the US in her 20s where she discovered and developed her passion for the arts. She joined Santa Barbara City College as an art student, and clay quickly became her favorite medium. She deepened her ceramic studies while living five years in Japan. Upon returning to Santa Barbara, she continued to work on clay sculptures and stone carvings in her studio while teaching ceramics at the Anacapa School.
The recurrent themes of Francine Kirsch’s sculptures are inspired by the harmonious lines found in nature. Within each sculpture, she returns to the timeless curve of the spiral found everywhere around us. Exploring simple forms and sensual curves in her female torsos, Kirsch’s sculptures resonate into our very core.
Francine has participated in diverse regional and international group shows in the US, Japan, New Zealand and Korea. Her sculptures and other pieces of art are in private collections all over the world. She has been a teacher, show coordinator, board and committee member for the California Sculptors Symposium in Cambria California since it started in 2002.
