ART CHALLENGE, Moderated by Tony Askew

THEME: "THRESHOLD”  -  We have a perfect theme for the beginning of a New Year, and another year of challenges for a world in the throes of seeming madness. Webster lists definitions of Threshold as Gate, Door, and Boundary. Whenever you leave your home, walk from one room to another, or enter a building, you are crossing a threshold. But, the earliest uses of Threshold refer to a different type of boundary: an Old English translation of Boethius’s De consolation philosophiae uses the word in a sentence about how the sea was made so that it didn’t overstep the “threshold”, or boundary, of the earth. Let your sea of creativity flow and challenge us with your psychological “Threshold”.

CREATE: Turn off your brain, play, experiment with a new medium, or a twist on the style you have mastered. Depict your Word choice with any style, any interpretation of art: representational, contemporary, abstract, and any medium: painting, printmaking, collage, assemblage, photography, and sculpture. It is not necessary to bring the art framed, but if on paper, please clip or tape to a mat or board.

FORMAT: Your art piece will be shown on an easel, and Tony and Joyce will lead the discussion and take comments from members. Each member participating will have approximately 3 to 4 minutes for presentation and discussion time.

NOTE: For health reasons, if you are not vaccinated, you MUST WEAR A MASK and practice social distancing.
