Andrew Roy

An award-winning artist, Andrew Roy is a member of both the Abstract Art Collective and the Santa Barbara Art Association. Andrew’s works are in private collections throughout the United States. Working with oil pastels on paper and also with acrylics on large canvases, Andrew’s paintings are vibrant, powerful, unique, and compelling.

Andrew was born and raised in Alaska, and has traveled extensively throughout the United States and on six continents. He has resided in Santa Barbara since 2012. Informed by experiences such as falling into a glacial crevasse, he believes, like Alfred North Whitehead that, “Art flourishes where there is a sense of adventure, a sense of nothing having been done before, of complete freedom to experiment….”

His abstract art evokes dreams, memories, joy, passion, despair, nature, longing, change, and beginnings. While communicating universally and intensely the desire to explore, feel, and connect, Andrew believes, in agreement with Picasso, that, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”

His prize-winning paintings have been shown in numerous galleries and shows in Santa Barbara and elsewhere, including with Sullivan Goss Gallery, Westmont Ridley-Tree Museum of Art, Gallery 113, CASA Gallery, the Faulkner Gallery, the Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara, the International Art Gallery and Channing Peake Gallery.
