Born and raised in Rockford, IL, my father, an artist and furniture designer, was an early influence in my life. I graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering. After a career as an Architect involved in planning large educational facilities and designing interiors, I found myself pursuing the fine art of painting.
My earlier work was influenced by the geometric abstract painters of the 1960s. In a desire to expand my work, I enjoyed introducing texture into my paintings, combining it with acrylic paint. I find abstract art to be infinite and a challenge to find new expressions. My latest work utilizes tree bark in various textures.
In the fall of 2011, a fellow artist, J.T. Turner and I decided there was a need to form an organization for members to exhibit their work and to introduce abstract art to the public. As a result, the Abstract Art Collective was born.
