“I believe we would have no wars if everyone created something, some of the time.”
~This is my thought
Originally from the East Coast, I am delighted (since 2009) to call Santa Barbara my home.
With the exception of 10 wonderful intense years as a potter, drawing and painting have been my joy for as long as I can remember. This passion drove me to art school (the Rhode Island School of Design) and an eventual Masters degree in Art, which in turn led to a position teaching art to young children. Although I taught for only 4 years, the children taught me to appreciate spontaneity and the artfulness of the unintended mark on paper.
My goal now as an oil painter—whether making representational or abstract paintings—is to combine control and spontaneity, to look for and cherish the colors and marks which sometimes seem to appear magically on the canvas.
Lastly, for me, making art is a healing and rewarding activity, an experience enhanced by the beauty of my environment.
