My mother was an artist and she encouraged me to sketch when I was a child in Iran.
I received my M.F.A. from Columbia University School of the Arts after my sons where grown.
When I moved to Santa Barbara from the East Coast, I took classes in watercolor, collage, print making, figure drawing, acrylics and oils. I also took workshops with well known artists including Charles Reid, Robert Burridge, Ray Hunter, and Skip Lawrence.
I joined art groups including Abstract Art Collective, Los Padres Watercolor Society, Goleta Art Association, S.C.A.P.E, and Carpinteria Art Center. I began to display my paintings at Karpeles Manuscript Library, Cabrillio Art Center, Music Academy of the West, Atkins Gallery, Kate School, Casa Magazine, and the Ridley-Tree Museum of Art. I have won prizes and sold works to art lovers beyond Santa Barbara, and in Manhattan and London
My painting subjects include musicians, landscapes, still life, and wild animals. I especially enjoy abstracts, the sense of freedom, the flow of color, the variety of tools beyond brushes, and the energy in the work.
