I have studied printmaking since 2010 and prior to that time, explored painting. My recent work consists of hand-pulled prints, primarily monotypes and monoprints, created by combining environmental influences with the upheaval and randomness of cultural shifts. Having had a career in city planning and environmental justice affords me the flexibility to explore, once again, a mechanical process combined with a passion, in this case, the intimacy of image making. My work focuses on abstracted forms and shapes, incorporating figures, objects, patterns and text.
My prints, collages, and paintings have been exhibited at Channing Peake Gallery, the Jewish Community Center, Faulkner Art Gallery, Westmont College, Ventura College, and Ventura County Atrium Gallery. I have studied with Elaine Le Vasseur and Siu Zimmerman at Santa Barbara City College continuing education and taken workshops with Santa Fe artist Ron Pokrasso at Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy, Santa Barbara moku hanga/Japanese woodcut artist Sara Woodburn and Scottish printmaker/painter Lennox Dunbar. I am a member of Santa Barbara Printmakers and Linda Taylor’s Spotted Dog Studio in Ojai.
