“Time spent in making the work doesn’t count; it’s the art that matters.”
—Ceil Bergman, artist and teacher
The themes of my work concern memory and a sense of loss about the vanishing natural world. The sunsets over our cities boast unworldly colors caused by pollution; oil spills and petroleum products are ruining our oceans. My abstractions hint at this plunder with the metallic colors and glitter of our consumer society. Clear car paint provides glossy effects. I hope my work serves as a forewarning of what is happening to the environment and that the viewer will see the irony behind its deconstructed forms and “beautiful” colors.
